The Accountant will lead our finance team, whose efforts keep pace with the demands of a dynamic production operation and a growing company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain complete sets of books, keep records of accounts, verify the procedures used for recording financial transactions, and provide fundamental accounting duties and tasks.
  • Post journal entries, reconcile accounts, maintain general ledgers, and prepare financial reports.
  • Authorize bank payments, transfers, deposits and perform reconciliations.
  • Responsible for compliance, reconciliation, posting and completion of EHT, WCB, PST and GST filings.
  • Lead month-end closing process that includes preparing, reviewing journal entries, working papers and reconciling GL accounts.
  • Process, review, verify and reconcile transactions related to payroll, accounts payable and receivable.
  • Review, verify, and enter information into the general ledger (ERP).
  • Implement, monitor and ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures as directed by the Controller.
  • Reviews sales invoices to ensure accuracy of product type, pricing, quantity, taxes, duties and brokerage for merchandise or services.

 

This position requires:

  • Five (5) years accounting experience in a computerized, manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience as a senior member of an accounting or finance team.
  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration with focus on Accounting, Finance or related fields.
  • Strong organization skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing using an ERP/MRP system would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with expertise in Excel.
  • Above average communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated strengths in building trusting relationships.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive growing company located in the heart of the Shuswap. The right candidate has a strong handle of core accounting functions, as well as an aptitude to learn about and support other areas of the company. The base starting salary for this position is in the range of $65,000 to $90,000, however, compensation will be determined based on the combined education and experience of the candidate.

The Electrical Assembler performs a wide variety of electrical assembly duties related to the manufacture of Valid Manufacturing Ltd. Electrical products. This individual will follow guidance from senior production employees and provides support as part of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical and electrical component installation.
  • Wiring and testing of electrical product assemblies.
  • Keep accurate and legible time records on travelers and in the time collection system.
  • Maintain workspace, tools and equipment in a safe, clean and neat condition.
  • Must be able to plan, organize and efficiently complete assigned tasks.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings for a wide variety of Valid products
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Work requires ability to repetitively perform high quality work by paying attention to details.
  • Willingness to contribute and participate as part of the team.
  • Shows initiative.
  • Strong organizational ability, good interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical experience and/or aptitude an asset.
  • Exhibits maturity, professionalism, and a customer-first focus
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment an asset.
  • Uses all hand tools such as drills, grinders, hammers, screw drivers, vise grips, etc., as well as power tools such as chop-saws and band-saws.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand for long periods
  • Must be able to work on ladders and/or scaffolding
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel and crouch at times to perform assigned tasks
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects skillfully.
