The Purchasing Manager will lead our purchasing team whose efforts keep pace with the demands of a changing supply chain and a growing company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, manage and participate in the existing procurement processes while looking for opportunities to enhance our processes and procedures.
  • Seek out and partner with reliable vendors and maintain a positive relationship with all stakeholders.
  • Negotiates prices and terms with suppliers. Engages suppliers by identifying potential issues, resolutions and opportunities.
  • Monitors supplier’s delivery date performance and ensures parts arrive as confirmed
  • Demonstrate and encourage teamwork and cooperation.
  • Responsible for inventory management and controls while demonstrating a total cost perspective with a lean manufacturing mindset.

 

This position requires:

  • Minimum of 10 years purchasing experience in a computerized, manufacturing environment.
  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of a certified Purchasing Manager Certificate from a recognized organization such as APICS or PMAC is an asset.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of procurement processes and inventory with an interest and ability to roll up your sleeves.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Proficient in using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite.
  • Above average communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid negotiation skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.

Department: Mechanical Assembly

Salary Range: $22.00 – $28.00 /hr

As the Assembler, you will primarily focus on performing a wide variety of moderately complex Mechanical Assembly duties as related to the manufacture of Valid Manufacturing Ltd. products. The successful candidate will be given guidance and direction from senior assembly and production employees and provide assistance and support as part of the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical assembly of valid products in a shop environment.
  • Uses all hand tools such as hammers, screw drivers, vise grips, etc., as well as power tools such as drills, grinders, chop-saws and band-saws.
  • Keeps accurate and legible time records in our time collection system using a computer.
  • Maintains workspace, tools and equipment in a safe, clean and neat condition.
  • Required to identify components and assemblies by part number, type, function, size and color.
  • Must adhere to all safety practices and procedures and work in a safe manner at all times.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Read and interpret drawings for a wide variety of Valid products.
  • Plan, organize and efficiently complete assigned tasks.
  • Repetitively perform high quality work by paying attention to details.
  • Willingness to contribute and participate as part of the team.
  • Shows initiative.
  • Strong organizational ability, good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be open to positive and constructive feedback.

 

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods, work on ladders and/or scaffolding and be able to stoop, kneel and crouch at times, to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects skillfully.
