Responsibilities:

• Supports existing product lines. Does modifications to existing products according to customer’s specific needs.
• Reviews customer’s order requirements and ensures all information required exists for the manufacture of the products.
• Develops new designs for new product lines according to customer’s specific needs.
• Communicates regularly with customers to ensure that their needs are met and addresses potential issues arising.
• Communicates regularly with manufacturing. Makes sure that designs are as cost effective as possible. Ensures that all designs and drawings are up to date with current fabrication processes. Looks to continuously improve the features and cost effectiveness of a design.
• Production and maintenance of all fabrication drawings
• Ensures accuracy of bill of materials (BOM) and fabrication procedures.
• Gains knowledge of customer manufacturing processes to support decision making.

The Electrical Engineering Manager serves as the functional engineering leader supervising a team of electrical technologists and engineers as they develop, test, modify, and create solutions to technical problems. The Electrical Engineering Manager plays a key role in the overall success of the organization by planning, managing, and monitoring electrical engineering functions. This individual oversees various engineering processes and timelines making any necessary adjustments in order to ensure successful completions on the work that is required. Team oriented approachable problem solver. Possesses high degree of initiative and works well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Leads the engineering team members and promotes professional development and high engagement through recognition and establishment of individual and team objectives.
• Reviews the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff.
• Selects new employees, ensures adequate orientation and training.
• Completes employee performance reviews and develops personal growth opportunities.
• Prepares and oversees budgets, approves expenditures.
• Oversees policy, procedure and safety guideline adherence.
• Communicates and collaborates with other department managers to coordinate work.

Skills & Abilities:

• Work requires a broad knowledge of electrical engineering processes.
• Able to deal with complex issues in a fast-paced setting.
• Must be able to function effectively in a results-oriented, deadline-driven environment.
• Experienced with leading, managing and developing a team.
• Experienced with project management being able to keep projects, processes, and the engineering team on track.

Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years’ supervisory experience
• 5+ years’ experience in a related field
• Solid knowledge of MRP, product flow and scheduling systems.
• Experience or familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code Part I and Part II.
• Experience dealing with third party testing laboratories (CSA, UL, ETL, etc.) product inspections, certifications and ongoing updates.
• Registration in good standing as a professional engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, or another Canadian provincial Engineering Association, and qualified for the role of Responsible Registrant.
• Exhibits maturity, professionalism, and a customer-first focus
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and able to balance competing priorities
