Valid Mfg. is currently searching for an Electrical Control Engineer/ Technologist who is responsible for the design & development of new products as well as the support of existing product lines. This person manages several projects simultaneously, all while interacting closely with several departments within Valid.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops new products by using available technologies.
  • Prepares electrical drawings complying with industry codes and standards.
  • Updates and programs PLC, VFD and HMI programs as required.
  • Provides calculations of various design and performance criteria.
  • Generates product service and operational documentation.
  • Acts as a technical resource for project related sales proposals.
  • Maintains design schedule ensuring that information is available for production to achieve delivery dates.
  • Schedules and supervises projects including design, testing, and commissioning.
  • Provides customer support via remote and onsite visits when needed for supported projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a Diploma from an accredited Institute of Technology
  • Experience working with CAD software an asset.
  • Familiar with Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • PLC and HMI programming experience (Schneider preferred)
  • VFD programming and tuning experience (Schneider preferred)
  • Field Commissioning and troubleshooting experience
  • Familiarity with networking and communications protocols, Modbus, Ethernet IP, CAN Bus.
  • Ability to learn different PLC programming software and PLC and HMI codes depending on product line.
  • Knowledge of MRP system an asset.
  • Project Management experience an asset.

About the Role:

  • Work with a team of three other employees; responsible for day-to-day accounting functions including cash, AR, AP, payroll, and general ledger
  • Perform select accounting and analysis functions relating to monthly accounting and reporting cycles including depreciation and work in process analysis
  • Responsible for product cost and overhead analysis
  • Provide analysis and support to sales, estimating, engineering and production
  • Collaborate with other team members on ad-hoc projects, transactions, and general operations where necessary
  • Monitor and maintain forecasts and performance indicators including, but not limited to, overheads, inventory, revenue, and income
  • Over time this role will assume all duties and responsibilities of the Controller

 

What you Bring to the Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or equivalent. Candidates pursuing their designation are welcome to apply

  • Installation, wiring and assembly of power distribution kiosks and enclosures. Inspects, monitors and verifies work performed to assure compliance and completion within appropriate standards and regulations.

  • Maintains workspace, tools and equipment in safe, clean and neat condition.

The individual working on this role is responsible for using electric arc welding equipment to fuse aluminum, stainless steel and steel materials to support production of Valid Manufacturing components and products. This person is required to follow general instructions and work according to established trade and shop practices, as well, is able to exercise some discretion regarding specific procedures and work methods to complete given assignments.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sets up equipment and prepares surfaces to be welded.
  • Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler, etc.
  • Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file or scraper.
  • Must adhere to all safety practices and procedures and work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Possesses British Columbia “C” Welding Ticket (or better) and is competent in the use of electric welding equipment (i.e. GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW) and other standard tools and equipment related to the trade.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of welding experience, at least one of these years in fabrication-oriented setting.
  • Required to pass Valid Manufacturing pre-hire internal welding test.
  • Ability to rate information using standards that can be measured or checked; work within precise limits or standards of accuracy; look at flat drawings, pictures, and blueprints and visualize how they would look as a solid object.
  • Must be able to understand engineering drawings and specifications as well as be able to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations with limited supervision.
  • Must be physically fit and agile, capable of performing the duties assigned.
  • Has good communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently as well as willing to contribute and participate as part of the team.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or
  • Previous experience as a Powder Coating Applicator an
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment an
  • Exhibits maturity, professionalism, and a customer-first focus
  • Uses all hand tools such as drills, grinders, hammers, screw drivers, vise grips, etc., as well as power tools such as chop-saws and band-saws.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand for long periods
  • Must be able to work on ladders and/or scaffolding
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel and crouch at times to perform assigned tasks
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects
