Supply Chain and Procurement Manager

Location: Salmon Arm, B.C.

Position Type: Full-time

This role will lead our procurement and supply chain team whose efforts keep pace with the demands of a changing supply chain and a growing company.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, manage and participate in the existing procurement processes looking for opportunities to enhance our processes and procedures.
  • Seek out and partner with reliable vendors and maintain a positive relationship with all stakeholders.
  • Negotiate price, contracts and process with our vendors.
  • Monitor the quality of purchased items and the efficiency of our supply chain practices.
  • Demonstrate and encourage teamwork and cooperation.
  • Responsible for inventory management and controls.
  • Manage and oversee the procurement team of three full time purchasers and a warehouse team of five.

 

This position requires:

  • Five (5) years supply chain experience, preferred.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Supply Chain Management or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of procurement processes and inventory with an interest and ability to roll up your sleeves.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing using an ERP/MRP system is an asset.
  • Above average communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid negotiation skills

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on internal phone support for a wide range of Valid products including, but not limited to, Vehicle/RV Products, Generator Sets, Rechargeable Battery Systems and Autotarp systems.
  • Perform failure investigation and repair on returned products.
  • Provide replacement component part pricing responding to OEM, Dealer and Retail inquiries.
  • Perform product research as necessary to provide optimum levels of support on our products and the environments they perform in.
  • Inspect, repair, service and install a wide range of Valid products.
  • Shared coverage for after hour – 24/7 phone support.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Training will be provided, but to considered, we will be looking for the following:
  • Post-secondary education or training in an electrical, electronics, or automotive discipline.
  • Strong organizational ability, good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings, technical data sheets and support manuals.
  • Uses critical thinking skills to analyze problems systematically, organize information, find root causes and generate options or solutions.
  • A strong ability for diagnostics and troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
  • An ability to work with limited supervision delivering a high level of customer service, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of tasks and challenges assigned.
  • Computer literate, experienced with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Valid Canadian Passport to support possible occasional travel to the US.

Due to the retirement plans of the existing Controller, Valid has a unique opportunity for someone to join the Valid Leadership team.  Working closely with the existing Controller this role will provide oversight of the finance and administrative functions for the company.

  • Leading the accounting team in the completion of day-to-day work.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business.
  • Demonstrated experience as a senior member of an accounting or finance team.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or progress towards completion is preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing using an ERP/MRP system would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with expertise in Excel.
  • Above average communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.

Electrical Control Engineer/Technologist

Valid Mfg. is currently searching for an Electrical Control Engineer/ Technologist who is responsible for the design & development of new products as well as the support of existing product lines. This person manages several projects simultaneously, all while interacting closely with several departments within Valid.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops new products by using available technologies.
  • Prepares electrical drawings complying with industry codes and standards.
  • Updates and programs PLC, VFD and HMI programs as required.
  • Provides calculations of various design and performance criteria.
  • Generates product service and operational documentation.
  • Acts as a technical resource for project related sales proposals.
  • Maintains design schedule ensuring that information is available for production to achieve delivery dates.
  • Schedules and supervises projects including design, testing, and commissioning.
  • Provides customer support via remote and onsite visits when needed for supported projects.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Hands on skills, ability and confidence working and testing with live power situations
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to contribute and participate as part of the team.
  • Required to be detail-orientated, well organized and have good time management skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a Diploma from an accredited Institute of Technology
  • Experience working with CAD software an asset.
  • Familiar with Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • PLC and HMI programming experience (Schneider preferred)
  • VFD programming and tuning experience (Schneider preferred)
  • Field Commissioning and troubleshooting experience
  • Familiarity with networking and communications protocols, Modbus, Ethernet IP, CAN Bus.
  • Ability to learn different PLC programming software and PLC and HMI codes depending on product line.
  • Knowledge of MRP system an asset.
  • Project Management experience an asset.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment
  • Occasional customer site visits required for troubleshooting, commissioning, and designing projects.
  • Must adhere to all safety practices and procedures and work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Ability to operate with little supervision, and with less frequent direction and review of the work performed.
